Interview with Julie Reznick
1. Share what you and your family are doing this month in honor of breast cancer awareness month.
My kids love making rainbow loom bracelets and recently we came up with the idea that we could make bracelets and sell them during breast cancer awareness month for charity. Over the past few weeks we have worked on them and this weekend we sold bracelets and cookies to friends and neighbors on our driveway. Seeing them build up their collection and discuss color and size options to raise money for this cause was really amazing. The money raised will be donated to Bright Pink and The Gathering Place.
2. What does it mean to you to be able to raise money and awareness of this disease that effects so many and so many families?
Breast cancer awareness is a cause that is very close to our hearts and my kids are at ages (8 & 5) where I thought it would be a good way for them to learn how they could give back. We talk about filling other peoples buckets and this was a tangible way for them to do this. It was meaningful to be able to work beside my kids for a cause that touches so many.
3. What has been the reaction of your friends and family to your work? What does it mean to you to have your village supporting you?
Obviously their biggest customers were our friends and family whose support was so appreciated and generous. It was because of them that my kids felt even more proud of their work which will lead them to fill more “buckets” in the future.
4. Anything else to share?
